NUTRITION
The fact that every American has at least one illness, with the
majority being overweight, is the greatest health challenge our
society faces today. It is true that “you are what you eat”.
Two thirds of all deaths are related to diabetes, cardiovascular
disease and cancer. In addition, being overwieght puts one at increased
risk for developing many additional chronic diseases:
- High Cholesterol
- Osteoarthritis
- Varicose Veins
- Liver Malfunctioning
- Fatigue
- Back Pain
- Joint Dysfunction
- Increased Mortality
OBESITY
It is true that fat cells grow more biomechanically active as you gain weight, churning out inflammatory compounds. As obesity ratches up inflammation, inflammation in turn promotes insulin resistance, a central feature of diabetes.
DIET
Too much sugar, alcohol, caffeine, saturated fat and refined foods
can deplete us of energy. What we eat is our fuel. Poor fuel will
eventually corrode the machinery of our body. Eating a balanced
and varied diet with plenty of fresh fruits and leafy green vegetables,
whole grains, carbohydrates, protein and fiber is fundamental to
good health.
