Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a preventable condition.
Osteoporosis is skeletal condition characterized by low bone mass
and deterioration of bone tissue.
Osteoporosis can lead to enhanced
bone fragility and an increase in the risk of bone fractures.
Three
main factors are responsible for the fragility of bone
- reduced bone mass
- damage of normal wear and tear of bone, and
- falls
Women should develop maximal bone mass long before menopause.
Osteoporosis in not just a women’s disease.
Bone
density can be maintained by:
- Exercise (weight bearing,strength training & back -strengthening)
- Good nutrition
- A healthy lifestyle
